People do ask me, why should I blog? I have a nice website, with all the information I want to share. Why should it include a blog? What should I put in it, or I don’t have the time to do a blog.
I will get to all these reasons but first the 3 main reasons why you should blog.
A blog is an excellent resource to show your readers that you are an expert in your field. You share this information with them on a regular basis. It should be information that is of use to your readers. Written in a way that it is easy for them to understand and take in. You can organize your blogs in categories. This way it becomes an archive and people can easily read all the articles you have written about one topic.
People get to hear your voice. Your website pages may be a bit more formal. In your blog posts you use a more natural tone of voice and your personality shines through just a bit more. For people to work with you it is important that they feel a connection with you. That they feel they are getting to know you and like your style of writing.
The last reason is a technical one. Google likes websites that get updated regularly. The easiest way to update your website is to write a blog post. Every blog post also counts as a page on your website. And Google also likes website that grow.
I have given you three good reasons why to blog. But I also understand it is hard. What do you write and when?
This may be easier than you think. Have a sit down with a blank piece of paper and a pen and write down a list of things that are important to you and your practice.
Follow the news in your field and write down when you come across something on interest.
There are free topic generators online that you can use to get ideas. Hubspot offers a really good one.
Try it out for a while and see if you like it.
